Carmel College
History
Carmel College was open in 1957 as the first Catholic girls’ mercy school; the land was purchased from the Poynton family. When it first opened it had no real classrooms and started with 15 students. Sister Justine found hardworking teaching Sisters, as the school grew; they hired their first lay teacher.
The second principle was Sister Monica Costello; she became principle in 1975 after teaching at Carmel since 1959. In 1982 she was elected the superior-general of the sisters of mercy for Auckland. Her quote “a true successor to Cecilia Maher” became famous.

The brief
Hi,
A bit of an update, i have now finished the brief.
Issue: Every year Carmel College takes all year 12 students to a week long camp in National Park. The students do lots of activities in subjects such as Biology, History and English. They also tramp the Tongariro crossing (weather permitting). Thorough out the week students and teachers will take photos and videos of the activities. Mrs DiCesare, the camp leader wants you to produce a DVD to commemorate the camp. The DVD will be sold to year 12 students.
Aim: My intent is to make a DVD for the year 12 students about their trip, it will included photos and video footage. They will use it to look back on their experience. They will also be able to look back at exam time and revise, if needed.
Considerations and Restrictions: I need skills on
Photoshop – It is for edit images. I will be colouring images, cutting images out, blending images together to make them look professional.
Movie maker – It is for editing photos and video footage and making them go together to produce a decent finished product. I will be putting photos and video into a sequence so it flows together well and gives the students/teachers/parents a good product to look back on.
Toast – It is a programme that create menus and credits. I will be using it to make my menu and credits, so they go with the rest of the presentation well.
It will have to be done by April 30th 2010. It will be shown to a lot of people, e.g. students, teachers, parents etc. We will set up a budget.
Specifications: My product requires
Budget – we will spend a total of $80 on blank discs; we will buy a pack for $51.96 and 2 packs of 10 at $15 each, we will spend $60 in total on ink. We will also buy 2 packs of 50 cd cases at $4.95 each and a pack of 30 for $12.95, with 10 cases remaining.
Stakeholders – We will show Mr Rowley our finished DVD and he will then show Mrs DiCesare our final product and then she will decide on which on will be the winner, which will then be shown to parents, students and the board of trusties.Time management – The Gantt chart will be created to keep us on schedule and tell us how much time we have left.
