Reasons

Hi,
I have also been working on this lately, i now have all my work up to date.

Time
I decided to put time as my first priority because that determines a lot, e.g. how long I have to get everything done, I have a schedule to follow and if I don’t follow that I won’t get my project finished on time.

Legal
I chose legal as my second priority as it is very important, I don’t want anyone to steal my work and pass it off as their own so I will go through the correct procedures to make sure my work is protected.

Equipment
I decided to put equipment as my third priority as it is important, because if you don’t have the equipment that you need you won’t be able to complete the project.

Skills/Expertise
I chose to put skills/expertise as my forth priority because it is also pretty important, if you don’t have skills/expertise on anything to do with the computer programmes we are using then you might not be able to complete the project to a good standard.

Materials
I decided to put materials as my fifth propriety because if you don’t have the correct materials then you will struggle to do your product.

Cultural
I put cultural is my sixth priority because it is important to have some cultural influence in our projects.

Social
I put social as my seventh priority because it is quite important to have people’s opinions on our projects.

Stakeholders
I decided to put stakeholders as eighth on my list of priorities because it’s important to say who you are making it for.

Innovations
I put innovations as ninth on my list because i don’t think it is as important as the other priorities

Skills

Hi there,
This is what i have been working on recently.

Skills/Expertise
Some skills I have are in photoshop and movie maker. The rest I’m not too sure on. I need skills in photoshop for the graphic design, movie maker to make the movie and toast to burn the DVD and make the menu. I will find tutorials to learn about things I don’t understand. The experts on the programmes are the teacher and other students. I can find tutorials or ask for help to find out new skills.

Equipment
The equipment I need for this project is a computer to access the programmes, the right programmes e.g. photoshop, movie maker, toast. I will find the equipment that I need at school and I can also do most things at home if I need to, I know the correct procedures for doing the work as I have used most of the programmes before so I know my way around them quite well.

Materials
For my project I will need - blank discs; CD cases to keep the discs protected; ink to print the covers onto the CD’s; paper for the CD cover cases; a printer to print the CD’s onto; these will all be purchased from warehouse stationary for a reasonable price.

Cultural
I tend to reinforce the schools mercy values of justice, compassion, respect for human dignity, service, care for the poor and vulnerable, as well as self values such as honesty, treating everyone how you would like to be treated, trustworthy. I will include Maori, European and Pacific Islander culture in my video and I will find out more about the cultures by searching on google and talking to people from those cultures if I need to. I am going to reflect on my chosen culture by putting designs from those cultures on my project. I intend to reflect a balance of cultures in my project.

Environmental
The environment this project will be used in is indoors. During this unit I will be working in an I.C.T lab. I can work by reducing the impact on the environment by not using much paper and doing most of my work on the computer. I would ensure my environment is a healthy working environment by making sure everyone uses hand sanitiser. The factors I need to be aware of in my environment are

Legal
It is best to get the DVD copyrighted so no one tries to steal your work. The environment the copyright law applies to is when you are making a movie you do this so no one can steal your work. The NCEA markers will look at my work to make sure Mr Rowley has marked my work correctly.

Time
I will have until 30th April 2010 to finish my project. The most important thing to do right now is to get the project finished to a good standard. I will use my time effectively so I can get everything done. The time limit is not negotiable.

Money
We don’t have a budget. The money for the printing comes from the school and the money to buy the other equipment will come from the students. We will be spending about $95 all up. If we get it signed off then we will go ahead and buy all the products.

Innovations
Some new innovations I will be introduced to is for toast, so I can learn how to make the menu for the DVD and burn the completed project onto the DVD.

Social
The people that will influence my decisions are my friends, family and possibly the teacher. I think everyone will like it, the year 12s should be grateful. I hope people will like my project as I spent a lot of time on it. What other people say might affect my decisions on what to add in my project because if a majority of people don’t like one idea I may decide to replace it. MY friends and family might say something that influences my decisions because they are a big part of my life so I usually listen to what they say. Some personal factors I need to consider would be my like and dislikes e.g. colours, my favourite colours are pink and purple, layout when I am going to place my designs on the page. They age group I am aiming to please would be the students (16-17 year olds) and older people like parents and teachers.

Stakeholders
I am producing my product for the year 12 students of Carmel College. The people affected most by my project would be the year 12 students. As it is their camp and their memories, people who would also be affected by this would be teachers and parents who took part in the trip as it has a lot of memories for them as well. I might put out a survey to see what people think of my project or just ask people what they think of it. My Stakeholders will stay the same throughout the project.

Carmel College

History

Carmel College was open in 1957 as the first Catholic girls’ mercy school; the land was purchased from the Poynton family. When it first opened it had no real classrooms and started with 15 students. Sister Justine found hardworking teaching Sisters, as the school grew; they hired their first lay teacher.
The second principle was Sister Monica Costello; she became principle in 1975 after teaching at Carmel since 1959. In 1982 she was elected the superior-general of the sisters of mercy for Auckland. Her quote “a true successor to Cecilia Maher” became famous.

o Care for the whole person.
o Demonstrate unity of purpose while recognizing individual differences.

We provide service when we:
· Create an environment of welcome and hospitality.

We care for the poor and vulnerable when we:

Special character

Carmel has a high pass rate in NCEA with most students getting a great mark. All students that leave the school are supposed to be confident, mature young women. They are expected to have independence and lead a successful life.

The brief

Hi,

A bit of an update, i have now finished the brief.

Issue: Every year Carmel College takes all year 12 students to a week long camp in National Park. The students do lots of activities in subjects such as Biology, History and English. They also tramp the Tongariro crossing (weather permitting). Thorough out the week students and teachers will take photos and videos of the activities. Mrs DiCesare, the camp leader wants you to produce a DVD to commemorate the camp. The DVD will be sold to year 12 students.

Aim: My intent is to make a DVD for the year 12 students about their trip, it will included photos and video footage. They will use it to look back on their experience. They will also be able to look back at exam time and revise, if needed.

Considerations and Restrictions: I need skills on

Photoshop – It is for edit images. I will be colouring images, cutting images out, blending images together to make them look professional.
Movie maker – It is for editing photos and video footage and making them go together to produce a decent finished product. I will be putting photos and video into a sequence so it flows together well and gives the students/teachers/parents a good product to look back on.
Toast – It is a programme that create menus and credits. I will be using it to make my menu and credits, so they go with the rest of the presentation well.
It will have to be done by April 30th 2010. It will be shown to a lot of people, e.g. students, teachers, parents etc. We will set up a budget.

Specifications: My product requires

Budget – we will spend a total of $80 on blank discs; we will buy a pack for $51.96 and 2 packs of 10 at $15 each, we will spend $60 in total on ink. We will also buy 2 packs of 50 cd cases at $4.95 each and a pack of 30 for $12.95, with 10 cases remaining.
Stakeholders – We will show Mr Rowley our finished DVD and he will then show Mrs DiCesare our final product and then she will decide on which on will be the winner, which will then be shown to parents, students and the board of trusties.Time management – The Gantt chart will be created to keep us on schedule and tell us how much time we have left.
